WildC.A.T.S. Adventures

Back in 1994, Ty got the call some artists prayed for, others dreaded (hard to claim indie cred if you’re working for a monstrously successful company!): an invite to pencil a new Image comic. Nelvana was animating Jim Lee‘s WildCats as WildC.A.T.S. Adventures, and when it came time for a comic book adaptation, Ty was the guy to go to (for a while, he got a call for any title that was going to end in the word “adventures”). Ty dithered for a while but decided to go for it…unfortunately the show was less than a stellar success (I think it ran 13 episodes), and the book was not what Ty wanted to be doing at the time (at the time he wanted to be a funny guy, and ended up doing some stuff for Mad, and his ShopTalk pages for DC, and lots of stuff for the Big Books from Paradox). The book itself only lasted ten issues…without a successful show, kids were not heading to the comic stores to buy it.

But Ty pencilled the first two issues, laid out the next two, and did a couple of covers before he left the book.
