So apparently there’s something about a new Secret Wars Marvel project, and something about ret-conning some Marvel history when it all shakes out.
Clay pigeons loaded…
Off we go.

Ty the Guy OUT!

Straw Men have been popular in comics for quite a while now…
I’ve not read this series, but that cover is rock solid.
This is the only cover from this All American Comics NSFW series that I can put on this family friendly website.
Even Marvel Comics is familiar with publishing straw men.

I think it’s simpler than that. When you have dozens of people independently adding to the universe, even under editorial supervision, sooner or later you’re going to have to weed the garden. The Marvel or DC editorial board gathers as a comic book Council of Laodicea, deciding what is canonical and what is apocrypha, in a circulation-boosting way.
(Of course you’re familiar with the Council of Laodicea. Everybody knows the Council of Laodicea. But nobody expects the Council of Laodicea. Their two main weapons are divine inspiration, papal approval and fluency in all Biblical languages. No, wait, three! Their three main weapons are . . .)
Every time some “fan” makes this argument they make it sound like Marvel or DC doing a reboot is literally going to physically erase from existence all of the published comic books set in the old continuity.
Oh my god, I read a few issues of that Innovation Straw Men series, and thought it was pretty neat. Except I can’t ever find the issues to read the whole thing! ARGH!
Oh, and reboots. Meh.
Well, there’s the thing. One has to care enough about the “old” Marvel Universe to be even mildly interested in or concerned about a reboot. We saw how well it worked out for DC. Those books have -never- been better …
Oh man, that second-to-last panel….has any fan ever actually given you that look over the years?
I’m trying to think of a reboot that was welcomed with open arms as soon as it was announced, but I’m having trouble.
I guess the Silver age reboot (new flash , green lantern, etc..) was welcomed, but maybe thats because there was no internet.
