The Best Hoverboy X-Mas Friday Yet!

Since Hoverboy Friday turns out to be on a Monday this week, I’ve got a special treat for those not in the know.  It’s the trailer for the lost film “Hoverboy Destroys Christmas“, produced in the late forties for an audience that was jaded by war, but still wanted to see things blow up on film, especially reindeer.

On a special note, one of the original producers of this film, Morey Marconi, announced recently (at the age of ninety-one) that he’s expecting his first child.  Congrats, Morey…I hope you live to see him graduate from kindergarten.

Hoverboy AWAY!!!

Oh!  Here’s the link to the film.

Christmas Bunnies #7

Every year, Ty complains about all the penguins he sees featured around Christmas time:  on cards, wrapping paper, etc. Some variation on, “There are no penguins at the North Pole!” (Yeah, I know…there’s no guy in red, either.  Shh–don’t tell him that.) So, 2007, he made his complaints into art.

Christmas Bunnies #5

Okay–he’s too busy to blog, but whilst scanning artwork he quickly threw in an old Christmas card to add in here.

So, herewith…Christmas 1992

This one is from the olden days, when Ty didn’t have a computer.  Well, he did…but it only had a basic word processing program and he only knew how to turn it on.

This was done “by hand”.  Some of you might be old enough to remember a world before computers, the worldwide web (I’m having flashbacks to the early days of our Compuserve account, when we literally couldn’t figure out how to do anything but email).  That’s real, live hand-lettering there.

Christmas Bunnies #4

Ty finished his work and got it out the door…but now he’s got the list of “could you add a drawing of this? could you change this?” and he’s too busy for sleep, food or rock’n’roll.  So, it’s still little ol’ me, going through his files…

(I’m thinking of saying something slanderous about someone…maybe his mother, just to freak him out and get him to come running to the computer.  Wait–is it slander or libel on the internet?*)

Hey–I remember this one!  I flatted this for Ty, and when he finished it, he used it as a colouring lesson for me…imagine how much I retained in the midst of the Christmas rush (what with the many children and cats running around).

*Ty says, “Libel.”  But it’s the internet…it’s not really published, right?  Wouldn’t it be slander?  Oh, wait–there was that lawsuit with the model

Ty, Santa and Darkseid

Wandering the internet, found an article by Chris Sims on www.comicsalliance.com, “The Twelve Comics of Christmas: DC’s best Holiday Specials”.  #9 features the Guy and a panel of artwork from his two-page story in Present Tense: DCU Holiday Bash II.
