Seuss Trek Wednesday!

I’m dropping in for a moment to share a couple more fun moments of Trekkieness here at the Bunny Factory.

First up, a sketch cover I did at the convention this weekend.  A fan got a Shatner signature on a blank Star Trek cover, and asked me to fill in the space above it with a portrait of Kirk and his ship above.  I get asked to do likenesses a lot in my work a lot (Mad Magazine, Batman 66, Dexter, Star Trek) but it’s never as easy to a good likeness sitting at a convention floor working from a little phone-google image of the celeb.  Fortunately, the fan brought with him a nice big shot of Shatner’s handsome mug, and it turned out okay.

Second:  We sold a few copies of David Gerrold’s TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES book, (the one with the all-new Tybunny cover art) at the convention….but we only had the softcover version at our table, and no one got to see the FULL wraparound cover that included Koloth bathing in the vile, barking, headless rats (his words, not mine).  Well, since I drew six zillion tribbles, and my devoted wife coloured six zillion tribbles, you have to see them all six zillion tribbles.

so there.

And it’s nice to announce that my latest Star Trek-adjacent project (with oft mentioned Trek Legend David Gerrold), “OH THE PLACES YOU’LL BOLDLY GO”  is gangbustering its way around Kickstarter.

But like all things Kickstarter-y, we need  your help to feed the beast (and yes, I’m referring to my teenage children).  If you’re hoping to see the love child of a Grinch and a Horta, or ever wondered how Thing One and Thing Two would deal with the Prime Directive, this is the book for you.

Check out the details HERE.

Montreal!

No conventions or appearances this June for family reasons, so my next convention will be Montreal Comiccon. It’s one of my favourite cities so I’m always happy for a chance to visit.

As with my other appearances I will be doing pre-con commissions. Info is on the page:  COMMISSIONS. I have to update the list of available sketchcovers when I find ’em all…if there’s one you’re interested in let me know and I’ll see if I can find it at my LCS.

Batman Day!

So Saturday September 26 2015 is Batman Day! I’ve been invited to spend the day at One Million Comix in downtown Toronto. My current plan is to be at the store roughly 12 – 5pm.

I’ll be signing books (bring your own or buy some at the store), and doing sketches. As it’s a limited period of time, obviously there’s a limit to how many sketches I’ll be able to do…so if anyone knows in advance that they’d like to get a sketchcover, you can send me an email at tybunny@gmail.com. Single figures are $60, two figures are $90, markers and copics.

All covers will be available for pick-up ONLY at the comic store (531 Yonge Street, Toronto) on the day of the event. Payment can be in cash at the convention or you can PayPal me before pickup.

UPDATE:  August 29 2015. My list for FanExpo is closed. I will be doing sketches and sketchcovers at the show itself. I will be bringing some blanks with me. If you want a Harley though I’m all out…check your LCS or the retailers at the show.

UPDATE:  I won’t be taking anymore requests for Chicago, as I have to get on a plane tomorrow morning! I will be at the convention all four days, sitting at the Hero Initiative booth and will happily do sketches and sketchcovers (although I won’t have any of my blanks with me).

When I get back from Chicago, I will be picking up more sketchcovers and will update my list for FanExpo requests then.

I generally only do commissions on-site at conventions but after a number of requests, I’ve decided to do some in advance. At the moment, I’m limiting this to sketchcovers. Single figures are $60, Two figures are $90, markers and copics.

My next convention is Wizard World Chicago, August 20 – 24. I will be there the whole weekend, holding down the Hero Initiative booth. FanExpo Canada is September 3 – 6. I will be at my own table in the pro section for that show.

Shameless Plug Returns!

Look how shameless he is! The hem on those SHORTS?!?

Look how shameless he is! With the raised hem on those SHORTS?!?

I didn’t get to where I am in the fast moving world of celebrity (with the starlets, the free flowing booze and constant gifts of semi-precious stones) by being a wallflower.  So today I shake my tail feather for a couple of projects that you might not have known I’ve been doing lately.

SKINNY STEVE ROGERS!

First up, is a comic I co-drew for Marvel Comics as a give-away at Kiehl’s Drug Stores in the US, Captain America:  Transformation and Triumph.  I did the flashback sequences in the 40s featuring Skinny Steve – and even got to draw an iconic “transformation sequence” into the super-soldier (who says ya can’t have fun at yer job?), with lots of reference to show how Kiehl’s at 3rd Avenue and 13th Street in New York used to look.

Ty_Cap_Kiehl_pg

Back in the war, the world was sepia toned. My parents told me.

The script was written by William Harms, with the lion’s share of the art by Angel Unzueta who drew the pages that take place in the 21st Century with modern Cap. Check the USA Today article for details on how you can get a copy. We don’t have any Kiehl’s up here in Canada-land so I’m hoping someone snags me a copy or two and sends them to me!  (That’s a blunt hint, there…)

QUANTUM AND WOODY!

The World’s Worst Super-Hero Team Returns, and ye humble bunny gets to play in the sandbox!  YAY!

For anyone who’s wandered into a comic store in the last few months who has an OUNCE of taste, you may have noticed the return of the best of the old Valiant Universe to the stands.  Well, with the best, must obviously come “the worst”, so the first issue of the all new Quantum and Woody, written by James Asmus and drawn by my buddy Tom Fowler, comes out in July (1oth?), but until then, Valiant Comics and IGN are posting weekly webcomics for the next six weeks featuring the team that’s NOT a couple!  I drew ’em and co-coloured ’em with the missus, James Asmus’ wrote ’em and the internet brings them to you.

Click through to be taken to the original link, and check back each week for the next five installments.

HERO INITIATIVE

WALKING DEAD SKETCH COVER

My latest cover for Hero Initiative charity organization was done as part of The Walking Dead 100 Project. One hundred sketchcovers will be going up for auction over the next few weeks. Check out the link to see all the covers, and keep an eye on the Hero Initiative site as to when they put new covers up for auction (I think they do ten at a time).*

Templeton-Ty

I was in the middle of drawing a fun little Walking Dead spoof for Mad Magazine when I drew this, so there’s a “Mad Mag” flavour to the art.  Just so long as there’s SOME kind of flavour, those Zombies look hungry.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN!

Okay.  This is cheating.  You guys already knew about these, because I plug them all the time, but this is the one that’s on sale coming up!

A cover I've always wanted to do...just the punching and leaping, and lots of it!

A cover I’ve always wanted to do…just the punching and leaping, and lots of it!

I didn’t draw the insides (yes, I know, people are up in arms about this all over my neighbourhood), but I still get to play on the covers, and the interiors are really quite well done versions of the episodes.  Well worth picking up for Spider-Man fans.

A friend of mine told me he thought this cover looked like pajamas.  Wait…is that a bad thing?

Not kidding.

I’ll let you know when I can let you know what it is.

And now, a BONUS PLUG moment.
