This is a story I tell often, but don’t often tell in comic form.
Off we go.
I know Gene’s brother told that story as a point of pride, but it filled me with dread. I still don’t like wearing shoes (or pants), but I’m SO lucky I have a reason to.
Ty the Guy OUT!
Here now, your BONUS Comic Book Shoe Moments:

A comic book story about shoes. (And about a murderer too, but so many stories are about murderers…)

Well, I don’t know if they are the epitome – but check out these “shoes of prey” – not sure I see you wearing them, but then again… http://www.shoesofprey.com/blog/post/17479936/shoes-of-prey-superhero-collection.html
I’m not sure I get the Superman one, but the rest kick ass. As the only man’s shoe, I would totally wear the Robin. Hell yeah.
I heard that story too (well not the shoes part, but Gene not leaving the house for a year). Gene did have other issues that resulted in him dying young but I’m sure not going outside for a year wasn’t good for his health. He was outside walking when he died though.
Maybe it is because I am not Canadian, or maybe it is something else.
So, you get out regularly to teach a class amongst people you have known for at least half a decade.
Why then do you have to wear shoes or pants?
Cheers!

Oh, there’s plenty o’ nudity around the art school on Wednesdays. Sometimes it involves a paid model. It depends on the quality of the drinks.

Great lesson learned from memoir.
I know a lot of people to which the “staying indoors 24/7” lifestyle applies. Thank goodness you get out there and work those shoes. Keeps the mind going, and the Ty friendly.
Now that O.J. ad…is really, really spooky. Not only because of his personal history, but because someone got paid to write something that uninspired. “I’ve got to put something special on my feet after a great game” – Really!?! Talk about going with your first idea…
Did Gene Day ever do more than 2 issues of Batman ? I remember the Batman/Detective Comics 2 parter in the 80s that his brother Dan inked.
Well Gene only did one Batman cover …Dan on the other hand penciled two issues Detective that one Gene did the cover on and a Batman and the outsiders
